Dakkacon is this weekend!

DAKKACON! This Weekend! An unorganized open gaming weekend put on by a bunch of guys who hang out on DakkaDakka.com

Food: I'm cooking a bunch of stuff. Black Bean and Sausage Chili, Chili Dogs, Beermato Bratwurst, London Broil sammichs, and lots of other good gamer food that is really bad for you. Food and Bottled water for the weekend is 20.00

Dakkacon Schedule of events - (well, sort of.)

We're sort of relaxed for the weekend of Dakkacon, and time 'schedules' are sort of more like 'guidelines'. OPEN GAMING is always an option. If you just feel like gaming for an entire weekend with a buddy, feel free. Lots of tables available. Most of the events will only take up a few tables.

FRIDAY: a 25point Warmahordes event, probably kicking off at 7 or 8. Whenever Tim Nash has his din-din, shows up, and tries to organize people wanting to play. Open to beginners, if you're an experienced player, leave the brass balls at home and play like you want to have some fun.

FRIDAY LATE NIGHT: BigGunz-NE are hosting an Iron Painter event. Meaning we all sit around a table and put paint on models, build stuff, base our armies, or get bored with painting and go play games. Paint or don't Paint, we'll be there until the wee hours of the morning and then going out for Waffles at the local Diner. Our resident Golden Demon winner, Joe Guiliani will be setting up his airbrush, and we may mess around with learning how to use weathering powders and a few other useful things.

SATURDAY MORNING: 1000 point 40k Tournament. 10am. 3 rounds I think, but who knows. )

SATURDAY NIGHT: The creator of Brushfire will be here to run demos. Take advantage of learning the game from the people that made it.

-We're going to break out a few board games like Cataan and Red Dragon Inn.

-Saturday night will also see some of the guys from Gaming Garage doing Malifaux demos. True to the clubs nature they worried more about painting pretty models than those nigling rules. It's beginners teaching beginners, so step up and learn how to play.

SUNDAY: WFB Fantasy Warbands. Bring a 1000 pt WFB army to play with in the Chaos Wastes. No lords, and try to go with the old warbands feel. Smaller units, reflecting the followers of a champion of chaos. Start with any race and mutate as you go.) Send army lists to Mike Clark at [email protected] for approval and a few rolls on the Chaos rewards table. WARNING: The ancient and venerable rules from Realms of Chaos in use! All hail the D1000 mutation chart!

Food will be cooking in the back all weekend. Eat hearty for just 20.00 for the whole weekend.

GW paints on rundown, you've been warned!

Posted by Mikhaila on January 2, 2012 at 1:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Here is the info I have:

-I should sell down on all the stock in my paint rack.

-GW will assist in this by selling stores single pots, instead of boxes of 6.

-I will be told more at the end of march.

-Please budget for a large outlay at some time after that.

My assumption is they are changing their paint line. Most likely is new pots and a new paint rack/system.

But there is always the possibility that some colors go away forever, and I'd suggest that people who use a lot of some colors for their armies, especially those with a set scheme and unfinished armies, might want to stock up on what they will need. Better to have it now, than to find out it's gone forever.

I expect that GW will not have all colors available through the end of march. When something sells out, it's gone. Might be in two weeks, might be in 3 months.

As always, I'm dealing with partial information, and making the best guesses that I can. )

Why can't I veiw the forums?

Why can't I access the forums?

The forums on this site are private. So when you sign up as a member, you won't automatically be able to veiw them. Within a day or so, I'll go in and make you a moderator, and you'll have access tot he forums.

What can slow this up?

-Mike being away for a day, out sick, etc. Al and Ludwig are also admins. If it's an emergency or you are having a drama breakdown, have them do it. Otherwise, be patient.
-You not letting me know who's trying to get access. Either send me an email saying who you are, or use a name that we recognize.

SVDM Registration is Live

Posted by Mikhaila on November 21, 2011 at 8:05 PM Comments comments (3)

I just put up the registration for St. Valentines Day Massacre up on the Showcase Website. I'd like the club to all think ahead to whether you want to attend or not, get the time off, paint your army, etc etc.

I'm limiting it this year to 32 players. That's how many 8 foot tables I can easily put in the store, and also lets me give out an undeated prize after 5 games. I means we will most likely sell out. If you want to play, plan to play, and don't let the time slip away and you miss out. We should have a lot of local players this year, and a lot of the Inner Circle guys will be up. Should be a very good time. Border Raids was a blast, this should be even better.

For those that like WFB, I'll also be holding a Warbands tournament on Friday night, with very small armies, using a system we are working on now for a league, and will be playing at Dakkacon in January.

The structure to SVDM will be similar to other years: 5 games over 2 days, with primary/secondary/tertiary objectives. A lots going to change though. Instead of the usual Best 1/2/3 x  Overall/Paint/General, I'm going to have more specific awards, and custom trophies for those awards. Prizes will be fairly spread out. Catagories will be things like:

-The Highlander (Undefeated Player)
-Master of the Ordo Mechanicus (Best painted imperial army).
-Dark Artizan of the Void (Best Enemy of the Imperium army.)
-Lord of Terra (Most battle points, Imperial army.)
-Galactic Scourge  (most battle points, Enemies of the Imperium)
-Da Big Mek! (Best converted army from either side.)
-Lord Inquisitor (best overal Imperial)
-Hivemind (best overall EotI)

Maybe a couple of more like this, or 2nd, 3rd places, etc.

Imperial - IG, all manner of SM, GK, SOB,
Enemies of the Imperium- Ork, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Necrons, Tau, Demons, Nids, Chaos

Missions will be three tiered. If you win the Alpha condition, it's a Win, and over half the victory points. Undefeated players will be matched up in further rounds until we get one undefeated person at the end. He may or may not have the most battle points.

Food will be like I served at Border Raids - Plentiful, tasty, and included in the price.
